There is a bit of a coffee cup and latte cup crisis ongoing in England at the moment. Right now, the cups are a source of immense waste that is building up in the country so the government is seeking to find ways to remedy this problem.
The first attempt at solving the problem that they have taken is to put a thirty-three cent tax on the cup. The goal of this tax is to reduce the amount of waste that is created by the cups and their perpetual culmination.
They have also said that if this taxation does not fix the problem they are facing, then the next step will be to ban all of the cups completely by the year 2023. For those wondering what the connection between taxation and coffee cup waste is, the connection is actually quite clear.
The way that the cups are made prevent them from being able to be properly recycled so the taxation comes in the hopes that the way the cups are designed will result in a successful recycling process.
We will have to see if this new attempts at solving the coffee cup crisis will work. If they don’t, the latte industry in England will look very different in about five or six years.
